996 TO 997 CONVERSION
THE REAR WINGS ARE REMOVED AND A SECTION LEFT TO ATTACH REAR WINGS TO. THE ARCHES NEED TO BE EXTENDED TO MEET THE 997 WINGS PICTURES 1AND 2 . UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR WE FIRST CARRIED OUT THE CONVERSION ON HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE REAR INNER FLITCH COVERED IN A FULL TIN OF FILLER PICTURES 3 AND 4. THE WINGS ARE CUT WITH ENOUGH OVER LAP TO SPOT WELD TO THE EDGES LEFT ON THE 996 WINGS PICTURES 5 6 AND 7. THE BACK PANEL THAT THE TOP OF THE ENGINE LID MEETS HAS TO BE REWORKED AS THIS IS A DIFFERENT SHAPE PICTURES 9 10 AND 11THE SILL PANEL NEEDS MODIFYING BUT FITS WELL TO THE 996 BODY. |

THE TOP OF THE INNER FLITCH PANEL NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH OUR INNER FLITCH CONVERSION PANEL SO THE WINGS WILL SIMPLY BOLT ON PICTURE 17. WHEN USING STEEL 997 WINGS THE REAR OF IT WILL NEED TO BE MODIFIED TO MATCH THE DOOR LINES THE BONNET LOCK ASSEMBLY ON THE 996 TAKES THE 997 BONNET WHICH WILL NEED THE USE OF THE 997 HINGES THESE NEED TO BE CUT SHORT TO FIT THE INNER FLITCH PANEL PICTURE 21. THE HEAD LAMP, SPOT AND INDICATOR WIRING NEED TO BE CHANGE ITS BEST TO USE THE 997 HEADLAMP LOOM REPAIR PART THE EXHAUST TAIL PIPES ARE ALTERED TO ACCOMMODATE THE 997 REAR PANEL AS THE CUTOUTS FOR THE PIPES ARE IN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT AREAS PICTURES 22- 23. THE PANEL THAT HOLDS THE REAR BOOT STRUT IN PLACE NEEDS REPOSITIONING WITH ALL PANELS BOLTED ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS WORKING ALL THAT'S NOW NEEDED NOW IS TO STRIP DOWN AND PREPARE FOR PAINTING AND PAINT MORE TO FOLLOW |
